Hariyali Chicken (Air Fryer)

Hariyali Chicken (Air Fryer)

Hariyali Chicken is a vibrant North Indian dish where chicken is marinated in a green blend of coriander, mint, chillies and spices, then cooked until smoky and tender. Made in the air fryer, it’s healthier, quick to prepare and packed with fresh herby flavours.

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 600 g boneless chicken thighs (or breast), cut into medium chunks
  • 1 cup fresh coriander leaves
  • ½ cup fresh mint leaves
  • 3–4 green chillies (adjust to taste)
  • 1-inch piece ginger
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsp thick yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt, to taste

Method

  • Make the marinade: Blend coriander, mint, green chillies, ginger, garlic, yoghurt, lemon juice, oil and spices into a smooth paste.
  • Marinate the chicken: Coat the chicken pieces in the paste. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best flavour).
  • Air fry: Preheat air fryer to 180°C. Arrange chicken in a single layer in the basket. Air fry for 15–18 minutes, turning halfway, until cooked through and slightly charred at the edges.
  • Garnish with onion rings, lemon wedges, and fresh coriander. Serve hot with naan, roti or salad.
