How do you descale a kettle?
Hamilton Beach kettles come with removable, washable filters to filter limescale for easy maintenance. For deeper descaling use a chemical descaling product from the supermarket. For a more natural descaler for your Hamilton Beach kettle; fill the kettle half way with equal parts water and white vinegar bring to a boil and allow to sit for 30 minutes before rinsing the kettle thoroughly 2-3 times before using again.
How much does it cost to boil a kettle?
For the Hamilton Beach kettle, which is 1.7L and uses 3kW of power can cost on an average between 1.5p-7p per use dependant on electricity rates and how much water is being boiled at a time. Boiling one cup (~250ml) can take ~1 minute to boil and cost ~1.5p; whereas a full kettle (1.7L) can take ~4 minutes to boil and cost ~7p.
A good way to save money when using a Hamilton Beach kettle is to only boil as much as you need at one time or if you are boiling a full kettle's worth of water; use what you need and save the rest in a thermal flask for future use without needing to re-boil the kettle.
How does a kettle work?
Hamilton Beach kettles contain a heating element which heats up when switched on heating up the water until it boils. Some Hamilton Beach kettles like the Hamilton Beach FlexiControl Digital 1.7L Variable Temperature Kettle allow you to manually control the temperature of the water to make specific drinks such as: black tea, green tea, white tea, oolong and coffee.
