Paneer Jhalfarezi is a vibrant Indo-Chinese stir-fry of paneer, peppers, onions, and tomatoes tossed with spices and green chillies. Quick to cook and full of flavour, it’s a tangy, spicy dish that pairs perfectly with parathas or rice.

Ingredients
- 400 g paneer, cut into strips
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 green pepper, sliced
- 1 red pepper, sliced
- 2 medium tomatoes, cut into wedges
- 2–3 green chillies, slit
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 2 tbsp chilli sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh coriander, chopped, for garnish
- Juice of 1 lemon
Method
- Heat oil in a pan add the onions and green chillies. Sauté until softened but still a little crisp.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute. Stir in turmeric, chilli powder, and cumin powder.
- Add the peppers and cook for 2–3 minutes. They should remain crunchy.
- Toss in the tomato wedges and paneer. Stir gently.
